Daily Devotional: Proverbs 7:10-20

Prov 7:10-20

And behold, the woman meets him, dressed as a prostitute, wily of heart. She is loud and wayward; her feet do not stay at home; now in the street, now in the market, and at every corner she lies in wait. She seizes him and kisses him, and with bold face she says to him, “I had to offer sacrifices, and today I have paid my vows; so now I have come out to meet you, to seek you eagerly, and I have found you. I have spread my couch with coverings, colored linens from Egyptian linen; I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love till morning; let us delight ourselves with love. For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey; he took a bag of money with him; at full moon he will come home.”

Rom 1:32

Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

There have always been people who are wicked. They know better but they do evil anyway. But they are not satisfied to sin by themselves, they are determined to get as many others involved as they possibly can. They will tempt others, they will entice them, and they will seduce them. Whatever it takes, they will lie, and they will deceive to get naive young people to go on the wrong path.

This is why we must teach the importance of choosing the right friends. Constant companionship with others will have a great impact on our lives. This is true for both good and bad companions. Over the years I have known countless people who have been changed for good because of their companions, but I have also seen many good people go bad because of the same reason.

This is all the more reason why we should determine to be a good influence on others. Especially, we need to try to help young people make the right choices. There are times when we can help these young people when their own parents can’t because kids will listen to someone else. Find a young person and take interest in them. Be a friend to them. Be a positive influence in their life.

My Father in heaven, thank you for all of those people who influenced my life over the years. Some were teachers, some coaches, some were just friends, but all of them made a great impact on me and I praise you for this. Help me be a good influence on those around me. Please be with our nation and the leaders of our nation. I ask you to guide the elections and give us leaders who will put their trust in you and follow your wisdom. I pray in the name of Jesus.
