Daily Devotional: Psalms 68:7-14

Ps 68:7-14

When you went out before your people, O God, when you marched through the wasteland, Selah the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the one of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, O God, you provided for the poor. The Lord announced the word, and great was the company of those who proclaimed it: "Kings and armies flee in haste; in the camps men divide the plunder. Even while you sleep among the campfires, the wings of my dove are sheathed with silver, its feathers with shining gold." When the Almighty scattered the kings in the land, it was like snow fallen on Zalmon.

Rev 7:9-12

After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

We serve a God who is above everything! He controls nations. He is over the earth and sky and the space around us – even farther than we even know. Yet, he holds the vast “outer space” in the palm of his hand. There is nothing that he does not know and there is nothing he cannot control. He feeds the gnats and the whale.

This God, majestic and powerful, knows you (and me). He understands all we face each day and he cares. He loves us and he is watching over us. He feels our pain, he understands our sorrow. When we trust him, he heals our broken hearts and he will mend our wounded spirits. The more we seek to be near him, the closer he comes to us. We have all messed up but he is willing to forgive all we have done.

O Lord God, giver of life, sustainer of all things, I know that you have given all power and authority to your Son and he is ever interceding on my behalf. Thank you for your wonderful way of salvation and your faithfulness in all things. I need you every day to guide me and to empower me with your Spirit so I will be all you want me to become. Help me remember that life around me is not about me but is about me serving you by helping others. Open my eyes to see the opportunities you place before me. I humbly come to you, yet boldly, through your Son.
