Daily Devotional: Psalms 66:1-4

Ps 66:1-4

Shout with joy to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious! Say to God, "How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you. All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing praise to your name." Selah

Rev 5:11-12

Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"

What a blessing to be a child of God! We can live in peace and have our hearts filled with joy! Since God is for us, who can be against us? How can he who gave his Son for us, not do all things on our behalf? Our Father has the resources to do whatever needs to be done on our behalf. His knowledge of our life is not only complete but is totally accurate. His wisdom concerning what needs to be done for us is unlimited. His power has no bounds. His deeds are awesome!

Not only does he forgive our sins in Jesus Christ, but he also empowers us with his Spirit. As we open our hearts to him, he molds us into his image. As we experience his love in our lives, it becomes a part of us so that we love him in return. As we grow in his love, our love begins to lose its bounds so that we give him our heart, our soul, and our mind in love. As his love is perfected in us, we become willing to do his will without reservation. There is no fear in love. Perfect love casts out fear.

This love of God in us then transfers into our love for others. Not just our family, not just our close friends, not just other Christians. For sure, all of these are loved by us, but we learn to love the unlovable. We love the homeless. We love those who are being abused. We love our enemies, even those who hate us, and who abuse us. We no longer see those who disagree with us as enemies but we view them as those we love. Love forgives. So, we forgive all who have done us wrong. We forgive with no strings attached. We let God hold them accountable.

O Lord God, fill me with your Spirit so I will have your love in my heart. Give me your peace and your joy, in spite of whatever I face in life. Lord, I lift up to you those who are filled with anger and hatred and ask you to replace it with love and with kindness. I bring those to you who are sick and those who are hurting and ask you to give them healing and strength to bear their pain. Lord, I ask you to open the hearts of those who reject you so they will come to know the love you have for them. Use me to reach those who are lost. I ask this in Jesus name.
