Daily Devotional: Psalms 21:1-7

Ps 21:1-7

O LORD, the king rejoices in your strength. How great is his joy in the victories you give! You have granted him the desire of his heart and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah You welcomed him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked you for life, and you gave it to him--length of days, for ever and ever. Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty. Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence. For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

Jude 24-25

To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy- to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power, and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

The more we learn about God and the more we understand his glory (which we will never do fully in this life), the more we realize that the greatest joy and the greatest blessing of heaven is being in his presence. At the same time, I believe that the greatest horror of hell is being banned forever from his presence. It is no wonder that the Lord would not let Paul tell the things he saw when he was lifted up into glory. The glory and majesty of God is incomprehensible to our minds.

Now, try to imagine that we will have new bodies, created in his likeness, so we will be like him. While we will share his glory in many ways, it will be his glory that gives light in the place of the sun. Think about the gold that lined the Temple of Solomon and all the splendor encased in it, and then remember that He is the eternal Temple in glory. The God we serve is full of glory and majesty!

We are his people. We belong to his family. He is our Father and he loves us more than we can even imagine. He has given us his Spirit to live in us and to mold us into his likeness here on earth, so that we become partakers of his divine nature. As we grow into him, we show others, Jesus living in us and it brings glory to God.

O Lord God, my heavenly Father, I am thankful that you care about me. I know you see every trial I face and you watch over me in every heartache. Too often I fail to see you or feel your presence because I am overwhelmed with the things around me. Open my eyes to see you more plainly, even when I do not know or understand what is happening. Help me feel my hand in yours as your Spirit gives me strength to carry on. I need your wisdom daily as I try to make decisions. Use me to help others and not to be selfish. I pray in the name of Jesus.
