Daily Devotional: Psalms 143:7-12

Ps 143:7-12

Answer me quickly, O LORD; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.

Heb 9:13-15

The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance-now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

We have all heard that it is not what you know but who. Well, when it comes to getting help from God, we know the right person. We know Jesus Christ. Not only is he our High Priest who ministers before God, but he is our friend and he is the Son of God. Now that is what we call having the right connections!

He has promised to be there for us when we are depressed. He has promised to rejoice with us when we are excited and things are going really well. He is never too busy to listen to us, even when we know it is not really that important. This is because he really does love us and he really does want us to have a wonderful life, both here and in eternity. He is totally vested in us and our well-being.

Between his work interceding for us and the work of the Spirit on our behalf, there is nothing that we cannot bring to our Father that will not be properly presented, understood, and acted upon. What a blessing to be his child!

O Lord God, it is such a joy to be yours and to know that you really do love me and that you actually listen to me, even when I ramble because I don’t know how to express my feelings. It is a joy to know that Jesus is my friend but also my High Priest and that he is working daily on my behalf. It gives me great peace to know that your Spirit is living in me and that he is working in me to make me more like you each day. Lord, give your peace to those who are depressed and who are dealing with anguish, grief, and anxiety. I pray in the name of Jesus.
