Daily Devotional: Psalms 106:40-48

Ps 106:40-48

Therefore the LORD was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance. He handed them over to the nations, and their foes ruled over them. Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power. Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin. But he took note of their distress when he heard their cry; for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented. He caused them to be pitied by all who held them captive. Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!" Praise the LORD.

Phil 3:1

Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you.

The salvation of the Lord is wonderful to every generation! When we think of salvation, we think of being saved from our sin and this is wonderful. But the Lord saves us in so many ways and maybe, just maybe, every day of our lives. He saves us from temptations that are too great for us and he saves us from disasters of all kinds as he watches over us with his loving care. As we trust him, he saves us from the worry and anxiety that destroys the peace of those all around us.

It is because of his far reaching salvation that we can rejoice in the Lord always and know his peace in our hearts. He gives a peace beyond comprehension that fills our hearts and our minds. So, even as we live in a world that is crooked and perverse, as we see all of the turmoil and hatred, we are able to be at peace with ourselves because we are at peace with God. Rejoice in the Lord always!

It is this attitude that will fill our hearts with thanksgiving to God. Every day is a day of thanksgiving for those who are in Christ. While others are fighting to have the things of this world, things that will rot and decay, we know that our Lord will give us far beyond all we ask or think, as we need it. Also we know that the more of his blessings we share with others, the more he will shower upon us.

Heavenly Father I am so thankful for all you give me every day. Thank you for your love and for the peace of mind you give me. Thank you for saving me in more ways than I can even imagine. I know that I am selfish and stubborn too many times and I need your reminders to soften my heart and open my mind to the opportunities you give me to do good and to honor your name. Please forgive me in your mercy and by your grace. Give your peace of mind to those who are in distress and are struggling every day. I pray in the name of Jesus.
