Daily Devotional: Psalms 103:15-22

Ps 103:15-22

As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children--with those who keep his covenant

and remember to obey his precepts. The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. Praise the LORD, all his works

everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

Luke 12:27-28

"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!

Seize the moment! Live your live with all the gusto you can put into it! The only time you have left on earth is now! The past is behind us and we can never relive it or change it. We may blame what has happened for our failures but we might as well get over it, because it is gone. We can live in anticipation of what will happen later today or tomorrow or next year but we will never reach tomorrow.

We can be thankful to God that we are living now and we have all the wonderful opportunities to be what we are. Physical beauty is fleeting and our health usually begins to fail us as we age. We learn more about life and about God’s word as we age but we find only a few who want us to share our knowledge or our wisdom. In every moment we live, we can praise God for his goodness shown to us.

So with the joy of the Lord in our hearts and with thanksgiving flowing from our lips, we will use this day to serve our God by serving someone around us. It may be just a kind word of thanks or a smile to one who is down and out. We can share with someone in need or listen to our friend who needs to unload the troubles on their heart. Rejoice in the Lord always, give thanks in all things.

Lord God, thank you for allowing me to live without a care in this world because I know you have everything under your control and you will take care of me. Thank you for the joy you have put into my heart in Jesus Christ. Use me to lift up the spirits of someone today and help me see every opportunity to help others – and then use it to your glory. Help me overlook those who are always negative and who try to dampen my spirits in life and keep my eyes focused on Jesus. Give your healing and your peace where you know best. I pray in Jesus name.
