Daily Devotional: Psalms 89:46-52

Ps 89:46-52

46 How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire? 47 Remember how fleeting is my life. For what futility you have created all men! 48 What man can live and not see death, or save himself from the power of the grave? Selah 49 O Lord, where is your former great love, which in your faithfulness you swore to David? 50 Remember, Lord, how your servant has been mocked, how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the nations, 51 the taunts with which your enemies have mocked, O LORD, with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one. 52 Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.

Rom 6:17-18

17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

We train ourselves to do what we do. We form our own habits, be they good or bad or just something we do. If we really want to be happy, we must train our minds to think about things that are good, clean, wholesome, right and things that are pure and holy. But we need to also train our minds to be positive and not always look for what is wrong or what is bad. To do this we must think about what we are thinking and what we are saying and be honest with ourselves.

God is good and God wants us to be happy people. His original plan for the human race was that we live in a perfect world with nothing bad around us. It was we who messed it all up when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and listened instead to the devil. So the more we focus on Jesus and on things spiritual, the more at peace we will be and the happier our lives will be. Rejoice in the Lord always!

But life does have troubles and not everything around us is good. People do say bad things and they do horrible things, even to us at times. We are living in a world that is controlled by Satan in many ways. But we can live above this world as we submit to the will of God and as we trust him to take care of us. The more we set our minds on serving others and the more we give, the happier we will be.

Heavenly Father I am so thankful for your love and for your compassion for me in my life. You have shown me how to love and how to be merciful and I ask you to help me show it to others and not be judgmental toward them. Use me to serve you by serving those around me. Lord, be with those who are taking treatments for cancer and give them healing if it is your will. Give them and their families your strength and your peace. Be with and give your protection to those who are suffering persecution for their faith in Jesus. I pray humbly in his name.
