Daily Devotional: Psalms 68:21-27

Ps 68:21-27

21 Surely God will crush the heads of his enemies, the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins. 22 The Lord says, "I will bring them from Bashan; I will bring them from the depths of the sea, 23 that you may plunge your feet in the blood of your foes, while the tongues of your dogs have their share." 24 Your procession has come into view, O God, the procession of my God and King into the sanctuary. 25 In front are the singers, after them the musicians; with them are the maidens playing tambourines. 26 Praise God in the great congregation; praise the LORD in the assembly of Israel. 27 There is the little tribe of Benjamin, leading them, there the great throng of Judah's princes, and there the princes of Zebulun and of Naphtali.

I wrote a devotional for this morning but after I thought about it, I decided that it sounded more like a sermon than an uplifting devotional. So I am rewriting this so it will hopefully be helpful today.

When we consider what God has done for us and we take time to enjoy his wonderful creation, we find that we are refreshed. Many consider this time of year their favorite because of the beautiful colors in the trees and the cool days. It is wonderful to see how beautiful God has made things, and this is true any time of the year. Take a walk outside (if you are able) and enjoy the fresh air and the beauty of God’s creation. He is awesome!

Take time today to enjoy the company of another person. It may be someone you love deeply or it may be a new acquaintance, but either way, enjoy being with them. Maybe you can visit someone who is not able to get out and see a lot of people. If your parents are alive, call or go see them.

The best cure for depression is devoting yourself to helping someone else and there is always someone who is worse off than you. Devote your energy to the needs of another instead of self-pity and you will find joy. Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice!

Heavenly Father I am so thankful that you have revealed your word to us and have shown us how to be right with you in Jesus Christ. Help me never lean on my own understanding or think that because I believe it, it is right. Remind me that I am still learning and still progressing toward perfection that only comes when I am with you in eternity. Use me here on earth, every day, to be what you want me to be and to help others in serving you. I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
