Daily Devotional: Psalms 9:1-6

Ps 9:1-6

1 I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. 3 My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you. 4 For you have upheld my right and my cause; you have sat on your throne, judging righteously. 5 You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name for ever and ever. 6 Endless ruin has overtaken the enemy, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished.

2 Peter 1:1-2

1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: 2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

While so often life seems unfair, we can always know that God does indeed sit on his throne and judges righteously. As with Job, we do not see the end while we are going through our problems. All we see is the present as it unfolds on the earth. But there is more to come. There is victory in Jesus Christ our Lord!

We can live in the abundance of his grace and in his peace when we live in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. To live by faith in God is a joy that is not known by so many in the world today, yet it is available to all. It is by faith that you and I can know the presence of God each day in our lives. It is by faith that we enjoy his grace, even in the midst of our trials. Just as Noah built an ark by faith, so we today follow the will of God by faith. By faith we live in hope of eternity.

What a blessing that God has given us others who are walking by faith and who offer us such encouragement in our trials. As fellow believers we lift each other up when we stumble and we help each other through the rough times. But we also rejoice with one another in the many good times. What a joy to share our triumphs (no matter how small) with someone we love. So as God’s children, we hold the hands of our fellow believers and we help one another reach our goal, our heavenly home with Jesus our Lord. We have a precious faith indeed!

Father God, thank you for loving me and for revealing yourself to me. Thank you for the hope you give me in the resurrection of Jesus. Thank you for the many fellow believers you have put in my life and for all the help each one of them is to me every day. Be with your people that we will have love for one another and will show this love in the way we treat each other. Increase my faith, give me wisdom from above and the strength of your Holy Spirit. Help me see each opportunity to serve you and help me use it to honor you. I humbly pray in Jesus name.
