Daily Devotional: Psalms 7:1-9
Ps 7:1-9
1 O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, 2 or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. 3 O LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands--4 if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me or without cause have robbed my foe--5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. Selah 6 Arise, O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice. 7 Let the assembled peoples gather around you. Rule over them from on high; 8 let the LORD judge the peoples. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. 9 O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
I have been through some pretty terrible times in my life. I have faced death, both my own and those in my family. I survived my own, but some of them did not. My wife and I lost our business several years ago and faced some uncertain times financially. We have had some difficult times in our fifty plus years of marriage and we have faced some troubles in our church family over the years. In it all we have learned that life is not always easy and it is not always fair.
God has given us each other and we have both used the other as our rock at times to make it through whatever we were facing. God has given us dear friends who have stood beside us and held up our hands when we needed help. Some of them have been (and are) as close as our physical families. Thank God for them.
But the one thing we have learned is that we can count on God to never leave us or forsake us. He always provides our needs, whatever they are. It has not always been according to our anticipated (or desired) timing nor has it come in the way we felt sure it would, but God never fails those who trust him. When we trust God, we can live a life filled with peace and joy, even in the midst of our trials.
O God I am so thankful for all you have done for my wife and me over the years and all you continue to do for us every day. You have never let us down and you have always given us friends to help us in every situation. Open our hearts to do all we can to help others in their struggles and their trials. Be with your people, wherever they are and whatever they are facing and increase their faith as they trust in you. Be with the leaders of our nation. I pray in Jesus name.
