Daily Devotional: Psalms 145:15-21

Ps 145:15-21

15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. 16 You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. 17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made. 18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. 19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. 20 The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.

Matt 10:29-33

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. 32 "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

If you are a Christian, you are living in the best time that mankind has ever known because you are walking and talking with Jesus your Lord. COVID may rage but Jesus is near and he is the Great Physician. Political and social problems may fill the news but the one who is in control is sitting on his throne. We may be in the midst of all kinds of problems and some may even be facing persecutions but in it all we can put our trust in Jesus and he has promised to never forsake us.

It is no wonder that Paul said we are to rejoice in the Lord always and then said it again for emphasis sake. Paul sang and prayed from a jail cell at midnight after being beaten for his faith. He wrote the “be happy” and “joy” book of Philippians from a dungeon in Rome because he trusted in God and proclaimed the good news of Jesus as the Savior of the world and the Lord of lords.

So wherever you are today as you read this, stop, and give thanks to God for all he is doing for you in your life today. Add to this the hope of being with him forever in eternal bliss and then give thanks for being his forgiven child. Honor him by living in love today and helping someone who needs your love and attention.

Heavenly Father what a blessing to be your child and to know that you love me and you have forgiven me for everything I have done against you. When I look at myself and my failures in life, I am ashamed to even lift my eyes to you or to even ask you for anything. I deserve nothing but punishment. But in your compassion, your love and by your grace you have forgiven me and it is now as though I have never sinned. Thank you. Help me honor you in every part of my life and to show others the love you have shown in Jesus Christ. In his name I pray.
