Daily Devotional: Psalms 98:1-9

Ps 98:1-9

1 Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. 2 The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. 3 He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. 4 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; 5 make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, 6 with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn--shout for joy before the LORD, the King. 7 Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. 8 Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; 9 let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.

Heb 9:27-28

27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

What a joy to serve the God who made us and who loves us more than we can ever even understand. The world serves the gods of pleasure and money or the false gods of self-indulgence and ego but we serve the God who brings real joy and true satisfaction. The hope of the world is at best, both partial and temporary in nature but the hope in our lives is an eternal and everlasting promise.

Every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father. There will be no exceptions to this because we all will stand before the judgment seat of God, the one with whom we have to do. But everyone has the opportunity to know the Lord and to bow before him now so in that final day, it will be a joyous occasion and not the dread of the ages. But how can they believe unless they hear and how can they hear unless someone tells them the good news of Jesus? We must share the salvation in Jesus with others.

Heavenly Father it so good to be your child and to live in hope that is both sure and steadfast, as an anchor for my soul. Thank you for Jesus who gave himself to die for my sin. It is easy for me to say this but I need the power of your Spirit in me, every day and every hour so that my thoughts and my actions are always in accord with your will. Give me a greater love for your word so I will study it more and wisdom so I will understand how to live it. Give your healing to those who are sick and those who are taking treatments. I pray in the name of Jesus.
