Daily Devotional: Psalms 68:15-20

Ps 68:15-20

15 The mountains of Bashan are majestic mountains; rugged are the mountains of Bashan. 16 Why gaze in envy, O rugged mountains, at the mountain where God chooses to reign, where the LORD himself will dwell forever? 17 The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands; the Lord has come from Sinai into his sanctuary. 18 When you ascended on high, you led captives in your train; you received gifts from men, even from the rebellious--that you, O LORD God, might dwell there. 19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Selah 20 Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death.

Heb 9:23-25

23 It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God's presence.

If heaven were to last only one day, it would be worth more than all this world has to offer and more than enough to make the trials, pain and suffering of this life as if they were nothing. To be in the presence of the glory of God, to see Jesus face to face and to enjoy the beauty of that home he has prepared would make it worth giving up everything this world can provide. But how can we as mortals begin to see and understand God in his infinite glory and majesty? We cannot!

With each trial in life and every small pain endured, our faith grows stronger and we are one step closer to that home that is not just one day but is eternal. We measure everything by time so it is impossible for us to grasp the extent and true meaning of eternity. Life forever, with no end. God’s glory that replaces the sun for our light. The presence of Jesus who radiates love into our being. This is the home for which we wait with patience and long to receive in immortal bodies.

Regardless of what anyone says or believes today, every knee will bow before Jesus and confess him as Lord, as King, as absolute Master, the Son of God who died for our sins. We must accept him now and live for him to be with him.

O Lord God, it is such a wonderful thing to know that you are my father and to realize that you know me and my name. To you I am not just one of millions but I am the son for whom your gave Jesus to die so I can be with you in eternity. I am so grateful and give you all praise for your matchless love and grace. Give your wisdom to the leaders of our nation as we face this pandemic. Give grace to each of your children so we can show respect to our leaders, even when we disagree with them. Forgive me when I fail you and sin. I pray in Jesus name.
