Daily Devotional: Psalms 21:1-7

Ps 21:1-7

1 O LORD, the king rejoices in your strength. How great is his joy in the victories you give! 2 You have granted him the desire of his heart and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah 3 You welcomed him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head. 4 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him--length of days, for ever and ever. 5 Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty. 6 Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence. 7 For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

2 Tim 4:6-8

7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

Just as David was crowned with many victories, we can overcome the enemies we face each day. As God gave him strength to win the battles he fought, we can win every fight we encounter in the power of the Holy Spirit. There is no situation in life that is too big for God to deal with or give us both wisdom and strength to handle in his time and his way. Our problem is trusting him in all things.

Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Our standing with God in Christ is based on our faith from beginning to end, it is from faith unto faith. With each battle we face and overcome, our faith in him will grow. Each time we do his will and see it work for good in our lives, our faith will grow. Each trial, each heartache and each victory will cause our faith to be more complete.

It is by faith we accept his forgiveness when we are baptized into Christ. It is by faith we are baptized when we turn from our sin. We turn from sin when we make Jesus our Lord and confess him as the Son of God, our Savior. This is the faith that comes by hearing and believing the gospel, the word of Christ. This is the gospel in which we stand, firm unto the end. Jesus is Lord and King!

Heavenly Father I am thankful for your wisdom shown to us in every part of your creation. Increase my faith so I will trust you in all things and therefore, not worry about anything. Help me keep my eyes on Jesus and on the goal above. Be with those who are sick and have special challenges and needs, especially children. Give wisdom and patience to their caregivers. Bless our great nation, be with our leaders and with each citizen so we will be the nation you want us to be. Be with your church that we will honor you. I pray in the name of Jesus my Savior.
