Daily Devotional: Psalms 7:14-17

Ps 7:14-17

14 He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment. 15 He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made. 16 The trouble he causes recoils on himself; his violence comes down on his own head. 17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Eph 1:7-10

7 In him [Christ] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. 9 And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment-to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

What a glorious day it is when we can awake and know that we are a child of the living God! We may face all kinds of problems, trials and heartaches but in the midst of it all we have peace of mind because we have the promise of God that we are his and under his care. This world and this life bring us pain and suffering but it is only for a little while. We have the promise of God that in Christ there is a better place waiting for us that has no pain, no suffering, no tears, no sorrow and no death. Our goal in life is to honor God and live with him in eternity.

This promise is not for everyone. It is only for those who are in Christ Jesus, those who by faith have humbly obeyed his gospel. It is only in Christ we can have the spiritual blessings of God because it is in him we have redemption from our sins through his blood. He has accepted the penalty of our sin so we can be forgiven by the grace of God. There is salvation in no other name among men whereby we must be saved; only in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and our Lord.

Because we are saved by God’s grace, we are made a new person. Our old person of sin has died so we now live in Christ and he lives in us by faith. We have been created in him to do good works which God has prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Praise the Lord for his great love and his tender mercy!

Heavenly Father I am so thankful for your love shown to me in sending Jesus to die for my sin. I know I don’t deserve anything good from you because I have sinned against you so many times. Thank you for your marvelous grace which provides a way of salvation for me by faith. Give me greater faith and more determination to be all you want me to be. Use me where and how you want me to be used in your service. I am mindful today of many who serve you in the face of persecution and I ask you to be with them. I pray in the name of Jesus.
