Daily Devotional: Psalms 134:1-3

Ps. 134:1-3

1 Praise the LORD, all you servants of the LORD who minister by night in the house of the LORD. 2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD. 3 May the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion.

Eph. 1:3-9

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will- 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the one he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

Praise the Lord! We praise him because he is God and we are his creation. We praise him because of his power, his majesty and because he is all glorious. Give him praise for he has provided a way of salvation from sin and death in his Son Jesus Christ. Praise God for he is love and in his love he has provided a way in which every person on earth can come to him and live with him in eternity.

We praise God for his wonderful love that extends to us and as his children we have this love incorporated in our hearts and our lives. Praise God who gives us an example of true love in giving Jesus as our atonement when we were his enemies and were helpless in our sin. Praise him for showing us how to forgive others, even when they don’t deserve to be forgiven. Praise the Lord!

Praise God for allowing us to be in his family and to have so many wonderful brothers and sisters who encourage us and help us live for him. It is a blessing to be able to go from place to place (and even on the internet) and to find others who are a part of the family and who love us for his sake. Praise the Lord!

We praise God for revealing his will to us in his written word. Praise him for the ability to understand it, the wisdom to apply it and the daily strength to live it. We praise the Father, Son and Holy Spirit who live in us and change us into his image.

Heavenly Father, as I contemplate my own unworthiness, how much I have sinned against you and my insignificance in light of the universe and all its people, I stand in awe and praise you for knowing who I am and for loving me anyway. I give you praise for allowing me to be born to parents who loved you and respected your word and who in turn, taught it to me. My request today is that my faith may be stronger, my love for you will grow deeper and that I can live in a way that gives you all glory and leads others to you. I praise you in Jesus name.
