Daily Devotional: Psalms 94:14-19

Ps. 94:14-19

14 For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance. 15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it. 16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers? 17 Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. 18 When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O LORD, supported me. 19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

Col. 2:6-7

6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Where is God when we need him? Why do we feel at times that he is not really seeing our problems or if he does, there is no response or help? God has not moved and he is still seeing all things. God is love and he does care. Jesus is our friend and wants only what is best for us. Our Lord knows what is best for us in every situation and will supply our needs and help our weaknesses.

For too many of us, our problem is that we have been spoiled by our society and the circumstances of our lives. We live in a land of plenty with freedoms to do whatever we want. We are surrounded with all kinds of technology that supplies us with instant results. We can fly to the other side of the world and while there, we can watch our house on our phones or even control the lights, open the garage door or lock the back door. We want something, we get it – now.

God is not on our time schedule and he is not enamored with our technology. He is everywhere, knows all things and controls all things. Our store of knowledge is only what he allows us to learn. Our freedoms are only those he gives. From his mind he conceived all things and then spoke it into existence. He knows best.

When we trust him, he will provide what we need. He will give us strength to endure our trials and provide a way for us to escape temptations. We must never forget that we are not in control, God is. Jesus is our Lord, we serve him.

Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for your love and all you have given me. You have blessed me in my life in more ways than I can count or even know. Thank you for the many fellow Christians who make my life such a joy, who help me in so many ways and encourage me when I get down. Thank you for your Spirit who lives in me and helps me in becoming more like you. Forgive me when I fail to live in a way that does not glorify you. Use me how and where you know is best and in the way that will honor you. I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord and King.
