Daily Devotional: Psalms 94:1-7

Ps. 94:1-7

1 O LORD, the God who avenges, O God who avenges, shine forth. 2 Rise up, O Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve. 3 How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked be jubilant? 4 They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting. 5 They crush your people, O LORD; they oppress your inheritance. 6 They slay the widow and the alien; they murder the fatherless. 7 They say, "The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob pays no heed."

Eph. 4:17-19

17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.

We live in a time where many fail to see God or acknowledge him as God. It is not unusual for the news media to scoff at those who profess faith in God. This is most seen in the lives of those who live only for their own pleasure, without any regard for the well-being of others. Without shame, people change their living partners as they would a suite of clothes. Ignoring the word of God, much of the world does that which is shameful and unnatural.

The god of this world has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, while convincing them that there is no eternity or judgment. This kind of thinking only leads people to indulge in every kind of impurity while causing God to give up on them. He never quits loving them or wanting them to trust him as God but he allows them to turn their backs on him and go their own way.

It is appointed for all of us to die and after this comes the judgment. Our whole purpose for living on earth is to fear God and keep his commandments because God will bring every act into judgment, whether good or bad. He is God!

Heavenly Father, I am so thankful that you love me and have given me the way to be with you in eternity. I wish I had never sinned and knew that I never would again, but I have and I do in spite of how much I try to resist. Help me grow closer to you each day of my life as my heart is set more firmly on being like you. As your Spirit molds me and his fruit is seen in my life, help me show others the light of Jesus and your name will be glorified. Give me a servant’s heart so I will show your love and do good to all as I have the opportunity. I thank you for so many wonderful fellow Christians in my life. I pray in the name of Jesus.
