Daily Devotional: Psalms 95:1-5 THANKSGIVING

Ps. 95:1-5

1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. 3 For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. 5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

Phil. 4:4-7

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Heavenly Father, we are so thankful that you are a God of love and compassion and you have provided a way for our sins to be forgiven. Thank you for taking care of us in more ways than we can possibly know. We enjoy so many spiritual blessings in Jesus Christ and we thank you for each of them and ask you to help us never take any of them for granted. As your child we are thankful for all of our spiritual family and the love that we are able to share with each other. Help us always have and show love for each other so the world will see Jesus in us.

Thank you for this country in which we live and the many freedoms you have given us. We are thankful that we have the opportunity to set aside a day for thanksgiving to remember your gracious hand in the establishment of our nation and for your continued hand in making us great. We realize that many have given their lives to make this nation free and we ask your blessings on their families and all those who are defending us today. Help each of us show the proper respect to our leaders and to be the best citizens we can be to give you honor.

We thank you for the many opportunities we are given to better ourselves in so many ways. Thank you for the jobs and the livelihood these afford us. Help us use what you have given us to your glory and to always be willing to help those who are less fortunate. Let us never forget that all we have is from you.

Please continue to be with the leaders of our nation and the other nations of the world that we may enjoy peace and continued freedoms to worship you as we understand you would have us do. Give them wisdom to lead this country in the way you want us to go so that you will be honored by their decisions.

Help each of us to live for you in every part of our lives. Help us as husbands, wives, parents and children to be all you want us to be. Help us as neighbors and friends to lead others to you. We humbly pray with thanksgiving in Jesus name.
