Daily Devotional: Psalms 30:6-12

Ps 30:6-12

6 When I felt secure, I said, "I will never be shaken." 7 O LORD, when you favored me, you made my mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed. 8 To you, O LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: 9 "What gain is there in my destruction, in my going down into the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness? 10 Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my help." 11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12 that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.

 

Eph 3:16-21

16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

 

We do not need to wait until we are in a church building with a lot of others to praise God. Our prayers and our praise should be a regular thing that comes very naturally because our heart is tuned to him. We should see God all around us in every part of nature. When we hear of some great discovery, we should praise God because someone has been able to learn another part of truth that he established long ago. We praise him for the many opportunities we are given each day to be with others who love him and serve him. We praise him because of the small children who can be taught and lead to live for him.

 

Another way that we praise God is in our lives. As we live for him each day and show forth Jesus living in us, we bring praise to God. Jesus said to let our lights shine so others will see our good works and praise our Father in heaven.

 

Heavenly Father you are worthy of all praise and all honor. Jesus, you are worthy to receive all praise and glory, honor and power. It is with humble heart that I come to you today to give praise to you for your matchless love, your infinite mercy and your wonderful grace. As I see every part of “nature” around me, I see your glory, your wisdom and your power. The blossoms of the flowers praise you in their beauty. The song birds give praise to your constant care. Make my life a source of constant praise as I live for you. I pray in the Savior’s name.
