Daily Devotional: Psalms 9:1-6

Ps 9:1-6

1 I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. 3 My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you. 4 For you have upheld my right and my cause; you have sat on your throne, judging righteously. 5 You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name for ever and ever. 6 Endless ruin has overtaken the enemy, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished.

Gal 2:20

20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Phil 1:21  For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

When Christ lives in us and he is our life, there is no way that others will not know how we feel about him. Have you ever been around someone who is filled with excitement about something in their life? We say that they “live football” or they “live hunting” or they live their job or it may be some sideline passion but when we are around them, we hear all about it – every time. We have a friend who has signed up to sell a new product and every post they make on Facebook is filled with their excitement about this new product and all the wonderful results that will come from using it. Just one pill a day and you instantly weigh 40 pounds less, look ten years younger and feel like a teenager again – but wait! –order today you will also get a pill that makes you as wise as the oldest sage. That may be an exaggeration but you get the point – they want you to know about it.

When we are crucified to this world and are living in Christ and he is living in us, we will want to tell others about our Lord. We will be excited about leaving sin behind and about all of the wonderful promises we have in Jesus. This sounds a lot like the words of Jesus when he said we are to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness or when he said we are to love the Lord God with all our heart and all our soul and all our mind. I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart!

O Lord, my Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth. Your glory is shown in the heavens above and your wisdom is seen in every living thing. Your love abounds in the mother nursing her child and your love of beauty is seen in the flowers and heard in the songs of the birds. Help me be filled with your love as shown in Jesus so I will tell others about him in my words and my life. Thank you for revealing your will to mankind and I ask for wisdom to understand how to live for you and strength to do it. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
