Daily Devotional: Psalms 145:14-21

Ps 145:14-21

14 The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. 16 You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. 17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made. 18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. 19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. 20 The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.

Heb 10:35-36

35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

What a privilege and joy to be able to serve the God who made us and created all that exists! He knows (without any exception) what is best for us in any and every situation we face in life. Not only does he know best but he always wants what is best for each of us. Our God is so great that he spoke and all we know came into existence. He has now revealed himself to us in his Son, Jesus our Lord.

What is more amazing than the fact that God designed and created all things is that he loves each of us so much that he wants us to live with him in eternity in a place and state of bliss beyond our imagination – a place called heaven. The only problem with this is that sin separates us from God. The wages of sin is death and the soul that sins, it shall die. But God has a plan to fix this dilemma.

He allowed his Son to come to earth and live as one of us in complete humanity, being tempted as one of us and yet without committing sin. He then caused his perfect human Son to take our sin on himself and to die for our sin. “He made him who knew no sin to become sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in him.” Paul asks, how can God who has done all of this, not do all things for those who are his? “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Heavenly Father, I am so thankful that you love me and care for me. Thank you for giving me a way to be in fellowship with you by forgiving my sin and counting me as righteous before you. Help me live in a manner worthy of your calling and show others the joy of living for you. I know I am far from being perfect but my heart is set on doing your will. Forgive me when I fail and help me be stronger to always practice what I know is right – both in all I say and all I do. I ask your great blessings on those who are hurting and struggling. I pray in Jesus name.
