Daily Devotional: Psalms 79:10-13

Ps 79:10-13
10 Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Before our eyes, make known among the nations that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants. 11 May the groans of the prisoners come before you; by the strength of your arm preserve those condemned to die. 12 Pay back into the laps of our neighbors seven times the reproach they have hurled at you, O Lord. 13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will praise you forever; from generation to generation we will recount your praise.
Rom 8:36-39
36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, neither angels, nor demons, neither the present, nor the future nor any powers, 39 neither height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
No matter what we face in life, as long as we are in Christ we have the victory over sin and death. When the night is dark or the road is rough, we find solace and hope in Jesus. The reason is because God has already won the war against Satan. Sure, he allows him to tempt us and he allows us to be tried in various ways but with each temptation he provides a way of escape. He has told us ahead of time that we will face these things but only because we need them to make us more mature and stronger in our faith. Paul (who faced all kinds of persecutions) tells us that the worst we face in this life is not worthy to compare to the glory that is to be revealed in the last day.
As we go through life, we have every reason to rejoice. We are on the winning side with the promise that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. We rejoice in him as he blesses us each day in say many ways. The worst of our trials is only a few days compared to the glory of eternity with our Lord.
Heavenly Father, holy is your name and to you is given all honor. Thank you for the redemption from sin that you provide in Jesus your Son. Fill me with your Spirit so I can indeed overcome every trial I face in life. Thank you for the strength you give as he lives in me. Thank you for revealing that the victory has already been won in Jesus. As I think of his resurrection to die no more, I am reminded that you have promised the same for me. Praise the name of Jesus! Use me to help others and then to give you the glory. Give your power to those battling addictions and give your peace to those who are grieving. Help me be more loving and forgiving toward those around me. I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
