Daily Devotional: Psalms 45:10-15

Ps 45:10-15

10 Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father's house. 11 The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. 12 The Daughter of Tyre will come with a gift, men of wealth will seek your favor. 13 All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold. 14 In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her and are brought to you. 15 They are led in with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of the king.

Heb 4:16

16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

We can imagine the beautiful maiden as she is brought to the king of the land and is provided with all of the luxuries one can enjoy. She has a whole team who serve only to help her please the king in the way she looks and acts. She is held in the highest regard by all who come to know her because she is now the Queen and she can come with boldness to the throne of her husband.

How much greater are we today as the children of God, the bride of the king of heaven and the ones for whom God has given so much. When Jesus told his disciples about John the baptizer, he said he was greater than all who had come before him but was nothing compared to those who would be in his kingdom. As the saved, we are in that kingdom and Jesus is our King.

We have all spiritual blessing in Jesus Christ. There is nothing in this world or the spiritual world that can tear us from the love of God. Our sins are all forgiven, even though we don’t deserve it to be so. Nothing can happen to us that is beyond the control of our Father and with the worst that comes our way, he provides a way out for us. He has promised to give us strength to endure all we face in life along with an inner joy and a peace beyond comprehension.

In addition to all this, our God is always vigilant for us and our wellbeing. We don’t have to seek permission to approach him because we are his and a part of his family. We can approach the throne of grace with confidence at any time and receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Holy God, creator of the universe, thank you for the wonderful privilege of prayer that is always available to me as your child. Thank you for Jesus who makes this possible and in whose name I come to you. I live in a world that ignores you and lives in a way that goes against all you call holy so I ask you to help me be holy in my thoughts and my life. Help me love you above all that is in this world. Use me to show your glory and to reach those who don’t know Jesus. In his name.
