Daily Devotional: Psalms 94:8-15

Ps 94:8-15

Take heed, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise? Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see? Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches man lack knowledge? The Lord knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile. Blessed is the man you discipline, O Lord, the man you teach from your law; you grant him relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked. For the Lord will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance. Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

1 Cor 1:22-25

Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

Since the Garden of Eden, Satan has tried to convince mankind that God is lacking in wisdom and is only pretending to know what is best for us. The liar accuses the honest one of lying. The deceiver tries to convince us that the one who is always pure and right, is seeking to deceive us for his own selfish schemes. What makes this so bad is that there have always been and always will be those who believe these lies. Lies told often enough will be accepted as truth.

We still see this in our world today. Evil is accepted as being normal and is even extolled as being what is best for us. When this happens, those who stand for what is morally pure are berated because of their ignorance and intolerance. Even when spoken with the greatest love, the accusation of “hate speech” is made.

Jesus said that he is truth. God cannot lie. Satan is a liar and a deceiver. The Bible is the revealed will of God and will always tell us what we need to know for us to live like Jesus. All of the “redefining” in the world does not change the truth of God or change what is called “sin” to be right. Sin is the violation of the will of God because it runs counter to his holy, absolutely moral, and pure nature.

O Lord God, give me a heart of wisdom to know your will and to live it. You know that we are bombarded with the lies of Satan every day in so many ways, so I ask you to help me to be able to decipher the truth from the lies. Give me a heart of love, compassion, and grace, even toward those who promote sin. Touch their hearts so they will come to their senses and accept Jesus as their Savior. Increase my faith so I will be able to accomplish your will for me. In Jesus’ name.
