Daily Devotional: Psalms 27:7-14

Ps 27:7-14

Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior. Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. Teach me your way, O LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence. I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Rom 8:35-38

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

What greater assurance can we ask from God than to know that he will always love us and nothing in the world can separate us from his love. He has won the victory in the resurrection of Jesus and as long as we remain in him, we are secure in that victory. The worst that can happen to the child of God in this world, is in fact the best that can happen to us; we leave this world to be with the Lord.

Meanwhile, the Lord has work for each of us to do while we are here. It may be to head up some major project of his or it may be to be a good mother or it may be that what God really wants from us is to be a good example in faith and love. We never know how just being a godly person may impact the one who will go on to make a major impact in the world and in the kingdom of God.

It was the faith of the mother of Moses that built his foundation of faith. It was his mother that taught him that he was the child of God and that God cared about his people. She is the one who saved him from the edict of the king. Then God used him to deliver his people, give them the Law, and then lead them to Canaan. All of this because of a godly woman, just living in faith and doing her job for the Lord.

Heavenly Father, what a blessing it is to know you and to live for you. Thank you for Jesus who provides me with salvation and who assures me of your love. Help me think on things that are good and wholesome and keep my eyes focused on you and things eternal. Use me to encourage others who are struggling. Be with those who are scheduled for surgery and give them your healing. Give me your wisdom and your strength to do your will. I pray in the name of Jesus.
