Daily Devotional: Psalms 45:13-17

Ps 45:13-17

13 All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold. 14 In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her and are brought to you. 15 They are led in with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of the king. 16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land. 17 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.

Matt 25:34-36

34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

God has planned a home for those who belong to him since the creation of the world. Jesus said he has gone to get it ready for those who follow him. This home is not just a place that is better than where we are now nor is it some palace that is lined with gold. These descriptions are used to describe it but only because there are no words in human language that can match the glory that awaits all those who place their trust in Jesus as their Savior and who live for him.

Faith is one of the most profound words in scripture. It is far more than just a simple acknowledgement of some fact. Faith in God is total dependence on him as the creator and on Jesus as the sustainer of all things with an understanding that we are accountable to him for every part of our lives. For this reason, our attitude and our behavior clearly demonstrates our faith in him.

When those who received the blessing of the King above asked when they had seen him in need and had helped him: 40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Faith looks for ways to be like Jesus, to do good and help others.

O Lord God, creator of all things and giver of life, I am so honored to be your child and to know that in Jesus Christ you have forgiven me of my sin. Never let me forget that my relationship with you is only because I have put my faith in you as my God and in Jesus as my Lord and my Savior. Help me show my faith by always responding in absolute obedience to your will as revealed in your Word. Thank you for all the things you have given me in this life and help me not be selfish but always be willing to share with those in need. I pray in Jesus name.
