Daily Devotional: Psalms 20:1-9

Ps 20:1-9

1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. 2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. 3 May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. Selah 4 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. 5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests. 6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand. 7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. 9 O LORD, save the king! Answer us when we call!

2 Thess 1:11-12

11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

My prayer for you is that God will bless you and that you will faithfully serve him and live for him. It is in this way that you will receive his blessings. For those who put their trust in him, he has promised his protection and his care over you. But if we put our trust in mankind or in the wisdom of this world, we do not have his promises in our lives. “Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.”

We all have a certain amount of fear of the unknown. We look ahead in our lives and we see potential dangers and problems of what might happen. But genuine faith takes away these fears and calms our hearts. We realize that God is over it all and he is in control. That does not mean he will take away all of our burdens or will heal our sickness. But it means he will see us through it and Jesus will be the one friend who will never let go of our hand. Remember, there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, so we must walk in his love.

Lord God, I do ask your blessings on all who read these devotionals. I pray they will have an open heart to your word and will truly put their trust in you and in Jesus our Lord. Use me to encourage those who are struggling. I pray for your people, wherever they are. I know some are being persecuted for their faith and need your strength today to be faithful so I ask you to empower them with your Spirit and give them your protection. Thank you for the freedom I have in this country to worship you without fear or threat of harm. I pray in Jesus name.
