Daily Devotional: Psalms 118:22-29

Ps 118:22-29

22 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; 23 the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. 24 This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. 25 O LORD, save us; O LORD, grant us success. 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. From the house of the LORD we bless you. 27 The LORD is God, and he has made his light shine upon us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar. 28 You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you. 29 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Rom 15:13-14

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. 14 I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another.

What a joy to serve the Lord! What a blessing to know that he is with us and will take care of us. Praise the Lord for he is good and his love endures forever. He will never allow us to be tempted with more than we can bear but always gives us a way out and provides the strength to overcome. Our God is faithful and he has promised to take care of us when we put him first in our lives.

All of us can quote John 3:16 and we know about the love of God. Has his love been perfected in us? Are we showing his love to others in the way we live and the way we talk? Do we live in complete confidence that he is near and will never forsake us? Paul asks the Romans how could God do so much for us and now not give us all things in Jesus Christ our Lord? God is love and it endures forever.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good and his love endures forever. To be a child of God is the greatest privilege ever given to mankind. To know that we have a Father who loves us and who is willing to forgive us is amazing. To grasp his love is beyond our ability to comprehend. By faith we never need to worry or be anxious about anything because God is greater and more powerful than whatever we may face in life. He created all things and nothing is beyond his control.

O Lord God I come to you with thanksgiving in my heart and a song on my lips to praise you and to honor your name. Thank you for giving your Son to die for my sin. Thank you for taking care of my needs. Thank you for my family and for the many brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for the many memories that flood my mind of the years gone by and the many friends who have helped me over the years in so many ways. You have given me so much to enjoy and allowed me to laugh and to rejoice with loved ones. Jesus is Lord and in his name I pray.
