Daily Devotional: Psalms 111:6-10

Ps 111:6-10

6 He has shown his people the power of his works, giving them the lands of other nations. 7 The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy. 8 They are steadfast for ever and ever, done in faithfulness and uprightness. 9 He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever--holy and awesome is his name. 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

Matt 6:25-27

25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

God takes care of his people. Read that again and see that whether Israel of old or his people today, God takes care of his own. The one thing that God has always wanted and demanded is that we trust him. In every part of our lives we are to put our trust in him and depend on him to take care of us. Anything less than this is not acceptable to him as God. Without faith it is impossible to please him.

One of the commands given several times is that we are not to be deceived. This is because we fool ourselves into believing what we want to believe instead of being honest with ourselves. Peter would have said he trusted Jesus but when he saw the waves, he began to sink. He said he would die for him but that same night he denied him three times with cursing and swearing. He failed to trust God.

This is why Paul says we are to be anxious for nothing but pray about everything, with thanksgiving. This includes the virus or even cancer. It includes the elections and the future of our country. Too many will say they are not worried but when we are with them a short time, we see that are consumed with the problems we all face in life. God has the wisdom and power to take care of us and he will.

Heavenly Father increase my faith and keep me from doubting. You are God and you made me and all the world where I live so I know you can take care of my needs, no matter what I face. I do ask you to keep me from being sick and I ask you to heal those who are at this time. I do pray for our nation. No matter what the outcome of our elections, give me faith to accept it as your will and to show respect to those who are chosen to rule over us. Be with your people that we can live in peace and share your gospel with others. I pray in Jesus name.
