Daily Devotional: Psalms 105:37-45

Ps 105:37-45

37 He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered. 38 Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel had fallen on them. 39 He spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night. 40 They asked, and he brought them quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. 41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert. 42 For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. 43 He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; 44 he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for--45 that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws. Praise the LORD.

Rom 15:13

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

When we are filled with hope in Jesus Christ and we give thanks in all things, we do not live in fear and we do not worry about life around us. For all who will submit to the Lord, he will take care of us and will provide our needs. That does not mean we will not get sick or die. That does not mean our loved ones will never suffer or have problems. God’s care does not take all bad things out of our lives but it does give us the strength and courage to face whatever comes our way and to put our trust in him to see us through it all, even death.

The worst part of death is that we are no longer with those we love here on earth but that does not even compare to the glory that is ours when we are in the very presence of Jesus our Lord and God our Father. Satan will take us captive with fear if we allow him to do so. We will fear the Covid virus, cancer or the flu. Fear of social unrest or political outcomes will overtake us. Natural disasters such as fires, floods, hurricanes, tornados and earthquakes can devastate entire regions of the world and create fear but for the child of God there is no fear. We live in hope as we overflow with the power of the Holy Spirit in us. Praise the Lord!

Heavenly Father I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit in me and the power he gives me to overcome all the fears that Satan can manufacture and throw at me. Thank you for the beauty of the earth and thank you for the freedoms I have and enjoy every day. Thank you for your people who encourage me. Thank you for Jesus and his willingness to obey you and give himself as a sacrifice for my sin. Thank you for the hope, the peace, the joy and the love that abounds and fills my life in him. Use me to carry out your will in my life. Be with our nation and guide our elections to give us leaders who respect you and your word. I pray in Jesus name.
