Dailey Devotional Ps. 51:13-19

Ps 51:13-19

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you. 14 Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. 15 O Lord open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. 16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. 18 In your good pleasure make Zion prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then there will be righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings to delight you; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

Rom 8:15-17

15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba,  Father." 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

There is no greater blessing in this life than to be forgiven of our sins and be counted as a child of God. Our father is not seeking ways to condemn us but has and is doing all that is needed for us to have eternal life. Our new life in Christ is a life of joy and indescribable peace, even in a world filled with turmoil, suffering and pain. This is because we know that Jesus is always with us and is working on our behalf, making a way for us to have life eternal with him.

The natural response to our salvation is to praise God in song and to tell of his goodness to all who will listen. The sacrifice we offer is the fruit of our lips along with a submissive heart of service. We are to live a new life in Christ that is filled with good works which God has prepared for us and all who love him.

All of our good works do not and cannot save us. We practice them because we are saved, from a dedicated heart of service. When we do good to others, we are doing that good deed for Jesus and laying up treasures in heaven. This is not to make a name for ourselves but to honor and glorify the name of Jesus.

Heavenly Father there are no words to express the thanksgiving and praise that I owe you for all you have done for me in Jesus Christ. Thank you for the physical health you have given to me. Thank you for the medical technology you have allowed mankind to discover and to develop. Thank you for the development of the internet. Help me to be able to use it to your glory, both in learning and in teaching. Thank you for so many who share their knowledge of your word. Use me to help others as you see best. I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
