Daily Devotional: Psalms 41:7-13

Ps 41:7-13

7 All my enemies whisper together against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying, 8 "A vile disease has beset him; he will never get up from the place where he lies." 9 Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. 10 But you, O LORD, have mercy on me; raise me up, that I may repay them. 11 I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me. 12 In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever. 13 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.

Rom 15:5-7

5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

What a joy to serve the Lord! When we put him first in our lives and when we seek to do his will in all things, we find a peace that the world does not know. He alone can give us joy inexpressible, even in times of trials. In the knowledge of his love, compassion and his forgiveness we can weather all the storms of life. He has promised to be with us and to be our High Priest to the Father. With the power of the Spirit we can face anything our enemy can bring against us.

If God is for us, who can be against us? He who made us is greater than the world in which we live. The power of his Spirit, the power who raised Jesus from the grave, is the same power he gives to those who love him and live for him. It is in the strength of his power we face our spiritual foe. Even with his cunning and his devices, we can overcome the devil in the name of Jesus. He is our Lord!

With the love of God perfected in us we can live life with no fear. Not because we are oblivious to the dangers or evils around us but because we put our trust in our Lord, the only true and living God. We know he will provide our needs and he will never forsake us in our times of trials. So with the apostle Paul we say, we can do all things through Christ Jesus our Lord in whom we put our trust.

Heavenly Father give me strength to live up to the standard you have given and to which I have attained. Help me be as trusting in you this afternoon and tonight as I am this morning. Give me wisdom to know when to speak, what to say and how to say it but also when to keep quiet. Fill me with your Spirit and with your love so others will see Jesus living in me wherever I am. There are so many I know who are sick, taking treatments and getting over surgeries and I ask your blessings and your healing on each of these. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus.
