Daily Devotional: Psalms 145:1-7

Ps 145:1-7

1 I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. 2 Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. 4 One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. 5 They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works. 6 They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds. 7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

Rev 4:9-11

9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: 11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

There is nothing much worse than watching someone destroy themselves as they fight against those trying to help them or even save them. Because they are not willing or are unable to think properly they make wrong choices and without even knowing it, they become their own worst enemy. Yet, this is one of the oldest tricks of the devil in his quest to gain control over us. “Do not be deceived.”

All of the ills of our society, all the hatred and fighting, all the lying and conniving, all of the greed and all of the other woes could be done away with if everyone would understand and accept the will of God. What people living in sin do not realize is that accepting the gospel of Jesus does not take away the joy in their lives but gives them true joy and peace of mind. With Jesus we have purpose of life and we have real meaning to the trials we face. Jesus is the answer.

What the world needs now is love sweet love! Not the kind that comes and goes but the love of God perfected in our hearts – love that serves and gives.

O Lord God, I am so thankful that you love me and have given me the opportunity to know you and your will. Thank you for providing your Holy Scriptures to us and in a way we can understand them. Give me wisdom to see the benefit of knowing you better and give me a greater desire to be like you. Help me apply myself in a more diligent way to studying your word and then applying it in my life. Fill my life with your love, your joy and your peace so that others will see Jesus living in me every day of my life. Use me to lead others to you both in what I say and by my example. Forgive me when I fail. I pray in the name of Jesus my Savior.
