Psalms 104:27-35

27 These all look to you to give them their food at the proper time. 28 When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. 29 When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. 30 When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth. 31 May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works--32 he who looks at the earth, and it trembles, who touches the mountains, and they smoke. 33 I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD. 35 But may sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Praise the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD.

The other day I saw a small rabbit sitting near the side of the road and he looked like something was wrong with him. I stopped and got out of my truck and walked over to the rabbit to see if I could help. As I approached it, I began talking and asked if he was ok or if something was wrong. To my surprise, the rabbit replied that he was having a really bad day and was just sick. So I asked what was wrong and he said he was worried about the coyote he had been hearing nearby and was also worried that it was not going to rain soon enough to keep a good supply of drinking water. Now that is a ridiculous story! Rabbits don’t worry!

We as humans spend endless hours worrying but the animals in the fields don’t do this. The reason is simple, they live one moment at a time with no view of the future unless there is imminent danger that threatens them. They are not concerned about where they will get their next meal or if their coat will grow out to be pretty enough for them to face the other animals next season. Instinctively they know that God will provide their needs and will give them the protection that is due to them. They have troubles but they don’t worry.

We can give our lives over to God and we can have the peace that surpasses understanding, the joy of the Lord in our hearts and the assurance that God will always be with us and take care of us. Praise the Lord for his love and care.

O God, thank you for providing my needs each day. You have showered your blessings on me in abundance and I thank you and praise you. There are those who are faced with heartaches, problems, diseases and other things that are so in need of your special care, your wisdom and your comfort. Please be with them and supply each their own special need. Use me to help as much as I can. There are those who are tangled in the web of sin and I ask you to give them wisdom to know how to accept your freedom. I pray in the name of Jesus.
