Daily Devotional: Psalms 67:1-7

Ps 67:1-7

1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, Selah 2 that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. 3 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you. 4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth. Selah 5 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you. 6 Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us. 7 God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.

Phil 3:7-9

7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ-the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.

God want us to be happy today. No matter what our circumstances or what is going on in our lives, he wants us to rejoice in the Lord always. This starts with absolute faith in God as God and in Jesus as the Son of God and our Savior. We know that he gives us all things to enjoy here on earth but even when things are tough, he is with us and will protect us. What more could we ask from him?

If we believe that God is in control of everything, our lives; the circumstances around us, our town, state and our country, we have no reason to be overly concerned or worried. We may not understand his plan or we may be deeply concerned about what is happening but we still have no reason to worry.

What we can do is pray. We pray for the ungodly to accept the salvation that he offers in Jesus Christ. We pray for our family and we pray for our government that we can live quiet and peaceable lives. It is right for us to pray that we will have more faith and grow spiritually. It is good for us to pray for those who are sick and those who are hurting. We need pray for those who are being persecuted for their faith. Paul says pray about everything and worry about nothing.

O Lord God it is such a blessing to know you and to know Jesus as my Savior. It is wonderful to be able to go to sleep at night with the knowledge that my sins are all forgiven and I am right with you. It is such a joy to face each new day with the assurance that you will walk beside me and help me face each moment. I ask you to be with each person who reads this devotional and give them greater faith to trust you and power to live for you without fear or worry. Fill each one of us with your love and your joy in Christ. I humbly pray in his holy name.
