Daily Devotional: Psalms 148:7-14

Ps 148:7-14

7 Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, 8 lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, 9 you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, 10 wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds, 11 kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth, 12 young men and maidens, old men and children. 13 Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens. 14 He has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his saints, of Israel, the people close to his heart. Praise the LORD.

Rom. 11:33-36

33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! 34 "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?" 35 "Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?" 36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

From the smallest ant to the greatest king or ruler of earth, none escapes the notice of God who made them and put them to use in his plan. We are here to serve God and to honor his holy name. We honor him with our thanksgiving and we praise him with holy lives. When we assist the needy, we praise God. Every time we give words of encouragement, it honors him. While there is a place given by God for public worship, serving him is an all time, 24/7 occupation.

To live for God means we are to be the best we can be in all we do, as we are guided by the principles given in his word. Being a Christian makes us the best spouse, parent or child. It will cause us to excel in our job or profession. Serving God puts us in the front of the line in being a good neighbor or helpful stranger when the opportunity arises. Following Christ will take away bitterness and fill us with love and compassion. We give up being judgmental and the determination to always be right and have things our way and replace it with true humility.

Heavenly Father thank you for loving me. Thank you for the many physical things you have given me, my health, my home and friends. Thank you for the mental ability to think and reason and to carry on with daily tasks. Thank you for my wife and family; for my parents who raised me and taught me your word, to love you and to respect what is right. Thank you, Lord, for the United States of America and for the many freedoms I enjoy every day, for the opportunities to advance myself and serve you by serving others. Help us as a nation to live in greater peace and harmony. Be with our leaders. I pray in the name of Jesus my Savior.
