Daily Devotional: Psalm 92:6-10

Psalm 92:6-10

6 The senseless man does not know, fools do not understand, 7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed. 8 But you, O LORD, are exalted forever. 9 For surely your enemies, O LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. 10 You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured upon me.

This morning I want to challenge each of us to something a little different. Have you ever read the book of Revelation (yes, the last book of your Bible)? Try sitting down and reading the entire book at one time. Try to read it without any ideas from what others have said or you have read. Do not even attempt to try to understand all of the details or what everything represents or means. Just read it with the idea of getting the big picture of what is being said.

The reason for this challenge is so you will be able to see and know the end before it comes. We look around us every day and we see the forces of evil in a war with God and his ways but God has already won the battle against Satan. We can choose whose side we want to be on – the side of God that wins or the side of Satan that ends up in that lake of fire and brimstone. As we are engaged in this spiritual battle we must never give up or give in to the world.

God will not judge anyone on the basis of how well we conform to the world around us. He will not judge us on how politically correct we were in our lives or how popular we were here on earth. In fact, being popular in this world may be a warning sign that we are on the wrong track. Jesus warned his disciples that the world hated him and would hate them also because they followed him and his teaching. When we live for God, we condemn the world.

This does not give us the right to be self-righteous in our attitudes or to look down on others. When Jesus saw people lost in sin, he had compassion and shared the word with them. When we remember that our righteousness with God is only because we have been forgiven, we can have the same attitude of humility toward others. Paul said we are not to consider ourselves better than others as we share the humble attitude of Jesus shown to us.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for revealing to me that the victory is already won and that I can be on the winning side. Give me strength and self-control to be faithful to you until I die. Thank you for giving your Son to die for my sin. Thank you for allowing me to hear your gospel and knowing the salvation you give. Help me never forget that it is only by your grace I have this salvation and I am what I am today. Continue to forgive me when I sin and guide me in your steps so I can lead others to you. I pray in the name of Jesus, my Savior and my Lord.
