Daily Devotional: Psalms 20:6-9
Ps 20:6-9
Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright. O Lord, save the king! May he answer us when we call.
Eph 3:16-19
…that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
People put their trust in a lot of different things but the only thing that is sure is the God who made us and Jesus who offers salvation to us. I have known some really brilliant people in my lifetime and some of them have become very successful in their careers. Others that I have known were not as intellectual but were equally successful. One thing that they all have in common is that God gave them what they have, physically, mentally, and financially.
I once met a man who told me that the only thing he trusted was the “green in my wallet”. Sadly, he died and left all of his money behind for his family to spend as they saw fit. We all die, and we leave every physical thing behind. John says that this world and all that is in it will perish. Trust God and trust Jesus!
Paul prayed that the Ephesians would be strengthened with the power of the Spirit, so that their faith would be greater, so that they would know (better understand) the love of Christ in a way that is truly incomprehensible for us as mortals on earth! But also, by this faith we may be filled with all the fullness of God! Peter says that we are to become partakers of the divine nature. This is the result (the fruit) of the Spirit living in us, changing us, and molding us into his glorious image. He is getting us ready for eternity with him! WOW! Hallelujah!
O Lord God, when I try to wrap my mind around you in all your majesty, it goes into instant overload! Your greatness is beyond my ability to comprehend, and yet you have revealed yourself to me in your Son. Help my weakness and increase my faith so that I can know you better and then see your reflection in my life. Use me to honor you by serving others around me. Remind me that whatever I am now or may become, is from you. Protect and strengthen your people, wherever they are, who are suffering because of their faith. I pray in the name of Jesus.
