Daily Devotional: Psalms 132:11-18

Ps 132:11-18

11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath that he will not revoke: "one of your own descendants I will place on your throne--12 if your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever." 13 For the LORD has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling: 14 "This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it--15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food. 16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy. 17 "Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one. 18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown on his head will be resplendent."

Eph 2:19-22

19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

One of the great lessons we learn from studying the Old Testament is that the people of God never faced an enemy that could not be defeated when they put their trust in God and followed his will. This was true of many individuals and also it was true of the nation of Israel. God always protected his own people.

We face many challenges in our lives today. With the COVID virus still running rampant and the political, social and racial unrest that abounds in much of our land, we need to put our trust in God and follow his will. He has promised that he will see us through whatever we face. He will give us what we need the most.

We must see him as God. He made us and he alone can save us from sin. When his time is right, the world will come to an end and not a minute before. We may cause a lot of chaos but people will not and cannot destroy this earth. God is the one who set the seasons in motion and they are under his control. He is God!

Heavenly Father give me greater faith to trust you in all things. Give me faith that will prompt me to submit to your will in every facet of my life. Use me to help others around me who are hurting. I need the power of your Spirit in my life each day to be all you want me to become. Thank you for your forgiveness in Jesus and for the peace this affords me in my heart. Give me a pure and loving heart so I will be patient and kind to others. Thank you for all those who have helped me (and still do) in more ways than I can even know. I pray in the name of Jesus.
