Daily Devotional: Psalms 77:10-15

Ps 77:10-15

10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High.” 11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. 12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds. 13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God? 14 You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples. 15 With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. 1 Tim 1:15-17

15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

While I have never spent my life terrorizing, torturing or murdering those who would serve Christ, as did Saul of Tarsus, I am amazed that God loves me so much that he is willing to forgive my sin against him. There have been times that I just ignored him and his will. There have been times I have defied him by my own selfishness and followed my own desires. I have spoken words that were most unlike words that should come from one who confesses Christ as Lord. Yet, his love is so great and his redemption by grace so amazing that he is willing to count me as his own and forgive my past. God is so great, so good and kind!

It is this goodness and love that motivates me to want to be all I can be for him and to share his salvation with others. It is his grace that makes me want to follow every part of his word and act only with his authority in every part of my life. His love moves me to love him in return and to love others as well. This love gives me power to forgive others when I am wronged, even those who do not deserve to be forgiven – even as God has forgiven me in Christ Jesus.

Thank you God for your great love and your forgiveness in Jesus Christ. Give me wisdom to better understand your word and strength to carry it out in my life in all I do and say. Help me lead others to you as I show Christ living in me. Use me to encourage those who are seeking to serve you as your Spirit molds me into your image more each day. Give your strength today to those who are serving you in spite of persecutions, famines and others trials. Give greater faith to those who are facing diseases that they might trust you in all things. Give healing where it is your will. Lift up those who are in grief. I pray in the name of Jesus.
