Take Time To Be Holy - I Peter 1:14-16

by Robert Fudge

I Peter 1:14-16
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the
former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,
15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy
yourselves also in all your behavior;
16 because it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."

In the words of the song we sing, "Take Time To Be Holy"

"Take time to be holy, Be calm in thy soul;
Each thought and each motive beneath His control;
Thus led by His Spirit to fountains of love,
Thou soon shall be fitted for service above."

In the words of the Psalmist in Ps 46:10,

"Be still, and know that I am God;"

In our busy hectic lives, we want a religion and a God that "can be put in a microwave" or "just add water". If we are to ever be what God would have us to be, we must stop and medititate on the word of God. We must, like Jesus, make it a habit to get alone and spend time in prayer with our Father. He wants us to become "fitted for service above." As we become Holy, even as He is Holy we are being remade in His likeness. May God bless each of us as we "take time to be holy" today and each day.
