1 O LORD, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
"God will not deliver him."
Selah
3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD;
you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
4 To the LORD I cry aloud,
and he answers me from his holy hill.
Selah
5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
6 I will not fear the tens of thousands
drawn up against me on every side.
7 Arise, O LORD!
Deliver me, O my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.
8 From the LORD comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
Selah
(NIV)
We too, even when it seems that life has crashed in on us, can know that God is ever near and will be our shield and strength. We like David can lie down and sleep, knowing that God is protecting us from harm. We know from the NT that God “will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear and with every temptation will provide a way of escape.”
We must “cry aloud” and He will “answer from His holy hill.” (v.4)
Today, whatever we face, let each of us determine to trust God to protect and sustain us.
Rom 8:31-32: What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
My prayer for each of us today:
Ps.3:8 From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.
Selah
