Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. 2 I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills [his purpose] for me. 3 He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me; Selah God sends his love and his faithfulness.
4 I am in the midst of lions; I lie among ravenous beasts--men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. 5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. 6 They spread a net for my feet--I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path--but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah
7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. 8 Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. 9 I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. 10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. 11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
Do you like to be ignored? Have you ever said something to someone, only to find that they were not listening? It was obviously important (to you or you wouldn’t have said it) but you were ignored.
How many of us ignore God? We don’t resist him openly. We don’t verbally defy his will. We would never talk bad about him. We just ignore him. We may be one who sends lots of e-mails to others about God and how he has been taken from our culture. We bemoan that prayer has been taken from our schools and other public assemblies. But when it comes to our lives, our service and our relationship to God, we just ignore him.
The really sad thing is that God has been taken from our homes (even many who call themselves Christians). His name is never mentioned, much less glorified. Prayer has been taken from our families so we no longer have time for family devotionals – Bible reading and prayer. We no longer have time to attend church services (well maybe we go some) and certainly don’t have time to visit the sick or those shut in by age or health. When we don’t glorify God in our lives we not only ignore him but by our actions deny him as God.
O God, please help me to be more conscious of you on a daily basis. Help me to use my time to study your word. Give me a heart to be more devoted to you and doing your will. Fill me with your love so that I can’t help but show it to others and serve them. God, I give you praise for your everlasting love, your unfailing kindness and your perpetual attention to all of my needs. You alone are God! I ask your Spirit to work in my heart. In Jesus name.
May God bless us as we praise him, worship him and live for him.
