Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. 90 Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. 91 Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you. 92 If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. 93 I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life. 94 Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts. 95 The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder your statutes. 96 To all perfection I see a limit; but your commands are boundless.
How much time do you spend in God’s word? Do you read (and/or study) the Bible every day? Do you read it once a week, once a month or even less? Too often we question God and wonder why he does not respond to our every whim when in fact we are the ones who have failed to establish the bond with him or have cut the cords that would hold us to him. One of the many things he=2 0has given us is his word. His word is faithful, it is ever enduring and boundless. His word is our strength in time of weakness, our help in time of need and our refuge in time of trials. Yet, even knowing this, we too often fail to take the time to read it as we should. This is like wondering why we don’t feel full and satisfied even though we have not eaten food in several days. His word is always there for us, day or night and is filled with just what we need on every occasion. The more we read and study it the more we realize that God knows what is best for us. The more we embrace it the more we find the joy and solace that is in it. The more we treasure it the more we find true delight in reading it. Yes, there are things in it that bring us pain because it points out our weaknesses and even our sinfulness. However, it also brings with the guilt, the pain, and the suffering a solution that is far greater and takes away those things. This solution is found in Jesus and the sacrifice he made on our behalf.
We see and begin to feel the love that God has for us in giving his Son to die for our sin. Since he loves us that much, how can we doubt that he cares about our problems that we are facing today? Let’s each determine to spend more time with God in his word on a regular daily basis.
Dear God, please help me to be more committed to knowing you by studying your word more often and more diligently. Give me strength to carry thru on this commitment and faith to trust you and your word for my life today. Fill me with your love so that I may share it with those around me. I pray in the name of Jesus, who showed me his love.
May God bless each of us as we learn to live and love like him
